ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪੁਰਬ

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪੁਰਬ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ, ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਨ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਗੱਦੀ ਨਸ਼ੀਨ ਹੋਏ। ਇਹ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਘਟਨਾ ੧ ਸਤੰਬਰ ੧੬੦੪ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ (ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ) ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ, ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਸਨ, ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਕ (ਲਿਖਾਰੀ) ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਜੀ, ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਸਨ, ਪਹਿਲੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ (ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦੇ ਸੰਭਾਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਠਕ) ਵਜੋਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਹੋਏ। ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਸਰਬੋਤਮਤਾ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦਿਵਿਆ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਈ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਸੰਕਲਨ ਹੈ ਦਿਵਿਆ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ (ਬਾਣੀ) ਦਾ, ਜੋ ਸਿਰਫ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਕੀਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਰਚੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ, ਨਾਮਦੇਵ, ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਵਰਗੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਨੇਹਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਇਕਸਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਰਵਭੌਮਿਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬਸਮਾਵੇਸ਼ਤਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕੇਵਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਜਾਤ-ਪਾਤ, ਧਰਮ ਜਾਂ ਮਤ ਦੇ ਭੇਦ-ਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਇਕਤਾ, ਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਵੱਲ ਇਨਕਲਾਬੀ ਕਦਮ ਸੀ।
ਅੱਜ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪੁਰਬ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਇੱਕ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਨਾਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਾਈ, ਦਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Pehla (first) Prakash Purab

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Pehla (First) Prakash Purab is a significant occasion in Sikh history, marking the day when Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the eternal Guru of the Sikhs, was first installed and formally enthroned. This historic event took place on September 1, 1604, at Sri Darbar Sahib (Amritsar), under the guidance of the fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Ji. Bhai Gurdas Ji, a respected Sikh scholar, served as the scribe for the holy scripture, while Baba Buddha Ji, a revered elder of the Sikh community, was appointed as the first granthi (caretaker and reader of the scripture). The installation of Guru Granth Sahib Ji symbolized the spiritual sovereignty of the Guru’s teachings, ensuring that the divine wisdom would guide the community forever.
The scripture itself is a unique compilation of divine hymns (shabads) composed not only by the Sikh Gurus but also by enlightened saints and mystics from different backgrounds, including Hindu and Muslim traditions. By giving equal respect to the writings of bhagats such as Kabir, Namdev, Ravidas, and Sheikh Farid, Guru Arjan Sahib Ji emphasized the universality of God’s message and the inclusiveness of Sikh philosophy. The first prakash (illumination) of Guru Granth Sahib Ji thus represented not only the spiritual center of Sikh life but also a revolutionary step toward unity, equality, and devotion beyond boundaries of caste, creed, or religion.
Today, Sikhs around the world celebrate the First Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with great reverence and joy. The day is not only about honoring a historical moment but also about reaffirming the central Sikh principle that the Guru (Guru Granth Sahib) is eternal, and the Guru’s light continues to shine through the words of Gurbani. By remembering this sacred event, Sikhs strengthen their spiritual connection with Guru Granth Sahib Ji, seeking guidance, peace, and inspiration for living truthful, compassionate, and righteous lives.
