Nawab Kapur Singh (Persons)

Nawab Kapur Singh (1697 - 1753)

When Mughal rulers offered a jagir (estate) to the Sikhs, the Sarbat Khalsa decided to hand it over to Sardar Kapoor Singh and honour him with the title of Nawab (Duke). The Sardar, in return, showed extreme humility and consented to accept this only if it was consecrated by the touch of the feet of Panj Pyaras.
