The Carnage at Nankana Sahib (February 21, 1921)

Mahant Narian Das, Manager of Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib trapped 200 Akali Singhs in comivance with police. They had come to visit the shrine and he had them hacked into pieces by his hired goondas. Later the mangled and mutilated bodies of the Singhs were burnt in kerosene oil. This episode is cinsidered to be one of the bloodiest of the 20th century massacres. The Gurdwara, however was handed over to the S.G.P.C the following day.
